As The Mother Church of the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas, The Cathedral Church of Saint Matthew is renowned for its quality of music and liturgy. In the Anglican cathedral choral tradition, the choir assumes a major role as a leader in worship. The diverse repertoire comprises anthems, motets, psalms and canticles from the renaissance to the works of the present day. The Cathedral Choir, directed by John Emory Bush, provides musical leadership at the highest possible standard for special Festival programs, Diocesan Services held at the Cathedral and for the 10:45am Sunday morning Eucharist.. Comprised of adults (mixed SATB), the choir sings throughout the year with rehearsals on Wednesday evenings September through May. Membership includes both professional and volunteer singers. While one does not need to be a professional singer to join, nor Episcopalian, choral experience, music reading skills and a blending voice are essential.
